Matcha 006 is a Japanese ceremonial grade matcha powder sourced from Yame, Japan. Tucked into a misty river valley in Fukuoka Prefecture, Yame's mineral-rich soil and heavy morning fog create growing conditions unlike anywhere else in Japan, giving rise to matcha with a character all its own.
Matcha 006 is a vibrant, two-cultivar ceremonial grade matcha for those who want something with a little more depth in the cup. Crafted from a thoughtful blend of the Yabukita and Saemidori cultivars and harvested during the first flush, the earliest and most delicate picking of the season, it carries the full intensity of what Yame has to offer. Yabukita brings the backbone, nutty and grounded. Saemidori brings the color and the sweetness. Together they are bold without losing balance, layered without losing softness. There is depth here. And there is brightness too.
First flush leaves are the most tender of the harvest, picked before the plant has been asked too much of. That tenderness comes through in the cup. The color is vibrant and alive. The aroma is rich and inviting. The energy it offers is warm and awakening, the kind that brings you fully into your morning rather than easing you in.
Stone milled in the traditional way, slowly and deliberately, Matcha 006 honors the process as much as the leaf itself. It also froths exceptionally easily, making it a favorite for lattes both hot and cold.
This is matcha for the moment you want a little more energy in your cup.
Tasting notes: Nutty with subtle umami, super vibrant
How to make an Alma Matcha latte at home
- 2 scoops of matcha powder (4 grams)
- 2 ounces of hot water heated to 160°F, whisked with a bamboo whisk in a back and forth motion
- Frothed milk of your choice, dairy or nut, hot or cold
- Sweetener of your choice, we personally love using creamer (or honey, maple syrup, or agave)
Pour the matcha mixture over hot milk for a hot latte, or over ice for an iced latte.
